Dear Every Single Doctor out there who refuses to prescribe low dose localized estrogen in the form of a cream or ring for your female patients.
You are doing a tremendous disservice to your patients. And dare I say, doing harm. Didn’t you take a hippocratic oath?
At menopause women lose estrogen in their urogenital tract. This leads to vaginal dryness, sexual pain and after the age of 65 urinary tract infections from which women can become septic and even die.
Know that you are doing harm because of your lack of education. Low dose localized estrogen is safe for women especially women who have no history of estrogen based breast cancer.
Today a woman in her 70’s presented to my office. She is in a new relationship and has vaginal dryness, sexual pain, issues with orgasm and recurrent urinary tract infections.
The two MALE doctors she went to have refused to switch this patient (with no history of breast cancer) from a vaginal tablet which is too low to treat her dryness to a cream which would likely work much better on a dry vagina.
Think about it, doc. How can a dry tablet be absorbed into a dry vagina. The low dose creams or a vaginal ring work better.
They don’t cause cancer.
Women deserve to have a sex life and good quality of life too.
